The Book of Changes (I Ching) is one of humanity's oldest oracles and at the same time a philosophical treatise more than three thousand years old. The sages of China turned to it to understand the moment and make the right decision. You can try it right now: the I Ching reading online is free and needs no registration.
What the I Ching is
The I Ching is based on the idea of constant change and the interaction of two principles โ yin (passive, feminine) and yang (active, masculine). From them lines are formed: a solid line means yang, a broken one yin. Six such lines make a hexagram, and there are 64 hexagrams in all โ a complete โalphabetโ of life situations.
How a hexagram is formed
Traditionally a hexagram is obtained by the three-coin method: coins are tossed six times, and each toss gives one line, from the bottom up. The lower three lines form the inner trigram, the upper three the outer trigram. Their combination determines one of the 64 hexagrams, each with its own name, such as โThe Creativeโ, โPeaceโ or โWaitingโ. In our service the coins are cast for you, and the result is cryptographically random.
How to interpret the answer
Each hexagram carries an image and advice. For example, โPeaceโ speaks of harmony and a favorable time, โObstructionโ of a barrier best gone around, โWaitingโ of the value of patience. Read the name and meaning of the hexagram you drew and relate them to your question. The I Ching rarely gives a direct โyesโ or โnoโ โ it describes the quality of the moment and suggests a wise strategy.
How to read correctly
Phrase your question clearly and calmly focus on it. Divine one question at a time and do not re-ask the same thing many times โ the I Ching values respect and sincerity. The oracle answers best to โhow should I actโ and โwhat is the essence of the situationโ questions.
