Oswald Wirth Tarot

A deck of 22 Major Arcana created by the Swiss-French occultist Oswald Wirth in 1889 with the participation of the Marquis Stanislas de Guaita. Wirth reworked the classic Marseille imagery, adding symbols of Kabbalah, astrology and alchemy: Hebrew letters and a deliberate colour symbolism appeared on the cards. This deck became a bridge between the folk Marseille Tarot and the occult tradition of the late 19th century and strongly influenced all later esoteric decks. To this day it is valued for the clarity of its lines and the depth of its Major Arcana symbolism.
